THE OFFICE UK TRIVIA

THE OFFICE BBC ONE 2015

1. Many of the writing team behind the series had never had any television writing jobs before starting on The Office.

2. Mindy Kaling's roommate appeared during season two playing Brenda Matlowe, from Dunder Mifflin. Before the show, Kaling was scouted by Greg Daniels who had spotted the pair performing a New York International Fringe Festival slot about Matt Damon and Ben Affleck.

3. John Krasinski turned down the chance to act as Dwight. He told the casting team that he would only act as Jim.

4. Creed Bratton was intended to be a cast extra in the background. Eventually despite all parts being cast, they decided to get him involved in the show with a few lines at first - because they found him so odd.

5. The Office was reviewed with mix responses. There was a lot of panic among staff thinking the series would be cancelled after six episodes. However in all, the television programme aired for 201 episodes.

6. It got a number of awards including Baftas and Golden Globes, become the first British sitcom to win a top US award. France, Germany, Israel and the United States all followed suit and created The Office for their own audiences.
