New paranormal show CELEBRITY HAUNTED HOTEL LIVE aired on channel W in October with JAMIE EAST co-hosting.
Speaking to Telly Binge, he said his involvement was down to previous series on UKTV (supplies W and nine other channels). “I had been involved with a similar programme the year before. When this was devised, I must have been fresh in their mind and I was more than happy to come back for more!”
The show was live for five nights from 27 until 31 October 2016. So what made it a good watch? “It’s spooky fun and doesn’t rely on you being a believer in the supernatural. The celebrities we threw in are all relatively new to reality TV, which is refreshing.”
Continuing about the contestants, he said “They were all open-minded and ready for the scare of their lives! We were not looking for arguments, romance and no one gets evicted - so the celebrities are a lot more forthcoming.”
Jamie had said before the series that he was looking forward to working with Christine Lampard (who fronted Celebrity Haunted Hotel Live), but did the pair get along? “She is the best! I hadn’t met her before the shows photoshoot and we got on straight away. Christine has a wicked sense of humour. She is an incredibly generous presenter, down to earth and annoyingly knows more about Alan Partridge than I do!”
The show brought in numerous celebs to participate in the haunted hotel. East was quick to praise them, “John Thompson (comedian/actor who appears in Men Behaving Badly) was just brilliant and I’m such a fan, Vogue Williams (model, television, radio personality) was terrified and Sally Lindsay (actress in Coronation Street) can put away the booze, good lord! Matt Johnson (television presenter) is one of the nicest fellas around, even If he did utter the worst swear word possible to me live on air!!”
He recently began to host his own show on Virgin Radio. “I absolutely adore doing it. I was terrified at first but have grown to feel completely at home behind the microphone.”
We follow Jamie on social media and know his love of television, such as recent posts about Harry Hill. “I’m an absolute addict to drama; currently I am watching Westworld and The Missing.”
Did you know the Surrey-born star co-hosts spin off show Thronecast on Sky Atlantic? Unsurprisingly he loves bingeing on that too! “Over the past few months Game of Thrones, The Night Of and all that kind of stuff has been devoured.”
Jamie East was talking to Telly Binge in November 2016. Remember to listen to his radio show weekdays between 10-1 on Virgin Radio, you can catch it on www.virginradio.co.uk or follow him on Twitter for other updates.
