2003 was the death knell for three soaps: Brookside, Crossroads and NIGHT AND DAY - a sadly forgotten soap that was a bonkers cross between Twin Peaks and Hollyoaks.
The show centred on the mystery of what happened to Jane Harper- a pretty, popular girl who goes missing on her sixteenth birthday. Sweet sixteen this is not; Jane’s having an affair with her best friend’s Dad (which comes back to bite her when it is revealed that the two girls were swapped at birth).
In keeping with the title, there were teatime episodes and a night-time adult omnibus. Despite Kylie Minogue’s theme tune and Lesley Joseph as a creepy spinster aunt, Night and Day was quickly banished to the graveyard slot.
It’s still the most innovative programme ITV has made.
Look out for: There's a ton of past and present soap stars here, the most notable of which are Shane Ritchie as Jane's Uncle Danny, who may hold the key to her disappearance and Bradley Walsh pre-Corrie as Woody, his bumbling brother.
